DOUGLAS COUNTY TRAIL UPDATE 03/15/2019 The area recently experienced warm temperatures and 2 days of rain resulting in a significant softening of the trails base and icy conditions. All grooming operations have been suspended. Due to the deteriorated conditions all trails are being closed to ATV/UTV operations. In addition, the following trails are closed to snowmobile operation: Saunders Grade Trail 9 between Town Road TT and the North Road. Trail 5A Trail 235 between the Tri County Corridor and CTH E The Douglas County Ski Trails were not groomed this week and are closed for the season. We plan to re-evaluate the trail system next Monday and anticipate significant closures. In areas of logging the trail conditions have been reduced by the recent weather conditions.
We would like to thank each & every one of you that stopped by this weekend!! It was great to see dear friends & family. Even had some friends that we normally don’t get to see in winter! Plus want to thank the Swords staff & members for such a successful poker run! Also, we will be closing at 3pm today due to travel advisory. This way our employees can get home safe! Hopefully we will see you next weekend!
We had an awesome Thanksgiving & hope you all did too! Now on to winter & Xmas stuff. Tonight will be our last chicken & Spaghetti night for the winter as we will start closing on Wednesday & Thursday’s. So going forward The Lookout will only be open on Friday, Saturday & Sunday’s. Also Christmas this year we will be spending in Kansas with our daughter & family so for the Christmas vacation we will be closed starting Dec 17 & reopen on January 2. As always, family is very important to us & we aren’t getting any younger so hope you all understand! Hope you all have a wonderful Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from your friends at The Lookout!

Thank you all for giving us a wonderful summer! It was nice to see all of you since I was out last summer! Feeling good & looking forward to deer season & hopefully snow this year! I just changed our hours & we will open on Wednesday’s & Thursday’s @ 2pm with kitchen closing at 8pm. On Friday, Saturday & Sunday will open at 11am with kitchen closing at 9pm on Friday & Saturday. On Sunday kitchen close at 7pm. We will still have our chicken & Spaghetti on Wednesday’s! Look forward to seeing you soon!!

Happy May Day!! When the kids were young we would always make May Day baskets & deliver all around the neighborhood. It was so much fun! ******Spaghetti & Chicken (all you can eat)***starts up again tomorrow at 4pm!! We will be open at 3pm on Wednesday’s & Thursday’s for now & 11am open time for Friday, Saturday & Sunday. I know winter got really long for us this year so we plan on having a fun summer! So come by and visit! Remember “Chicken & Spaghetti” Wednesday night 4pm-8pm. Hope to see you! Kitchen closes at 8pm on Wednesday & Thursday. 9pm on Friday & Saturday & 7pm on Sunday. Once again we would like to thank all of you for your support and patience during Tom’s & Linda’s health issues this past 1 1/2 years. Linda’s really looking forward to a fun summer since last summer was mostly spent in hospital & recovery!! Here’s to good health and much more fun to be had!!
Wish I could say “Happy Spring” but the snow doesn’t want to leave us in the Northwoods! We’re currently only open on Friday,Saturday & Sunday for the time being. Business is slower this time of year and along with trails being closed it can get pretty quiet. I’ll keep you posted when we get to summer hours. Hope you all are doing great & we look forward to seeing all of you this summer!

Hello to all of our dear friends & family! It’s the time of year again where we close for a short time. We are closed now and will reopen on March 23 @ 11am. Linda is getting stronger every day and will be back to work soon. Sure have missed all of you! Thanks for supporting us & really do look forward to seeing all of you again!
Hello to all of you. Sorry I'm just now giving an update again but my life has been pretty boring living between the bed and chair! Been home for 2 weeks now and had my first outing to doctors office on Thursday to Duluth. She said I'm doing well. My wounds are healing good, my throat is finally not sore anymore & getting a little easier to cough and sneeze. Still can't drive or do much with my hands or arms. Still in the "protect sternum" time frame for 2 more weeks. During this time I can't bend over or do housework or lift over 8 pounds. It's really hard to not use my hands & arms! There are times that I get emotional because I'm overwhelmed by the love, prayers, cards & flowers that have been sent by friends and family. God love you all! I feel so blessed! Also want to thank you for all my birthday wishes and cards. I did nothing but am grateful to be alive. I don't know how that post got on here from last years thank you! In fact I have removed my messanger icon bc I just don't trust it so if some of you have sent me messages there I haven't responded. Your friendships mean the world to me and I'm going to try my best to be a better friend when I get well by staying in touch. I've never been to good at that! And hopefully I can boast about how great I feel instead of complaining all the time ha ha. Physical Therapy starts Sep 11 for 3 times a week. Who know maybe I'll get some weight off! Thanks to all our friends and customers for your continued support at the Lookout and I look forward to seeing you again. Many thanks to La Pienado Hair Salon for being so accommodating with my hair needs. They are the best! Thanks again to all of you and will see you probably early October. ❤️
Well good morning, it's Linda here and I feel I have enough strength to write this message before the hospital day gets hectic. As many of you have heard by now, I had to have triple bypass open heart surgery & am still in the hospital. Came in on July 23. So all those dear friends that listened to me complain about having no energy and not feeling well, or not returning a phone call or text all turned out to be good reason for it. I was 100% blocked on one side and 80% blocked on the other side of heart. I will say this has been the hardest thing in my life to deal with (yes even including son Russell)! Love you Russell, just poking fun! There was a couple times in there that I ask Tom to just let me go to Heaven but he wouldn't hear of it. His love and patience kept me going. I was 12 days in ICU with a breathing tube down my throat so needless to say I still am not talking very well and throats still sore. Just seemed like one complication after another. Got sore spot on butt that I'm still dealing with from laying so much!! Then had blood in my urine that just went away yesterday. Hurts like heck to cough. Assuming next step will be in patient rehab for a week and then maybe home. Plus I will have 12 weeks of out patient rehab once I go home. I don't know where to begin to thank each and every one of you for your prayers, cards, visits and gifts. I had friends from high school that even reached out to me. I will forever be grateful to our Julie Sears, Jennifer Miller, son Russell, friends Jamie, Claudine, Cheryl and Payton for helping out at the restaurant & keeping it going during this time of need. Well and of course, our customers that still came to support us even though Tom n I not there. This ordeal has been a wake up call about life in general and I feel so loved and grateful. Also want to thank all the nurses and staff at St Luke's Hospital in Duluth MN, without them,I wouldn't be here! Every time a new nurse would come to my room, they would comment that my room is the "Room of Love" in the hospital. It was also very hard having my daughter & friends come on vacation and not be able to spend time with them outside of hospital but now there will be better days ahead! I will live my life healthier and truly appreciate all the beautiful people in my life!!! Also many thanks to Todd and Scott for giving up their time with their loved ones so they could keep our business going!!! I hope I haven't forgotten anyone but I wanted to get something out so you would know how I'm doing! Much love to all of you!
